ABOUT US

Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) has unveiled exciting possibilities for Sentosa and Pulau Brani as part of a landmark Master Plan to redevelop the two islands into a game-changing leisure and tourism destination, leveraging their unique island charm, geographical qualities, as well as proximity to the city. The unveiling follows from National Day Rally 2019, where exciting plans for Singapore’s Greater Southern Waterfront were outlined.

Transforming Sentosa and Brani into an Island Playground in a Global City

Known as the Sentosa-Brani Master Plan, the comprehensive blueprint will be rolled out in phases over the next two to three decades. It will see SDC leveraging the islands’ ridge-to-reef attributes to bring in world-class attractions as well as fresh and bold night-time offerings, while enhancing last-mile transport connectivity to and within the islands. New spaces and concepts that are authentic and environmentally sustainable will also be created – including rejuvenated beaches and expanded nature and heritage trails.

The redeveloped islands will feature five distinct zones – each delivering unique experiences, with the zones progressively taking on a more leisurely character as guests travel farther from the city into the islands: Vibrant Cluster, Island Heart, Waterfront, Ridgeline, and Beachfront.

“The Sentosa-Brani Master Plan is one of our tourism developments to position Singapore as a leading destination for the next few decades. Sentosa Sensoryscape is the first project under this Master Plan. It will complement the expansion of Resorts World Sentosa and subsequent infrastructure enhancements on Sentosa and Pulau Brani. Our tourism industry is doing well and still has plenty of scope for further growth and rejuvenation. It is one of our economic engines that can continue to create many good jobs for Singaporeans.” said Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Education, Mr Chee Hong Tat.

Construction to begin for first Master Plan milestone, Sentosa Sensoryscape, in Q4 2019

The Sentosa-Brani Master Plan will be implemented in phases over the coming two to three decades, with the first milestone project, Sentosa Sensoryscape, set to begin construction works in the fourth quarter of 2019 and be completed by 2022.

Located at the heart of Sentosa island, the new 30,000sqm Sentosa Sensoryscape, which is approximately the size of 5.5 football fields, will link Resorts World Sentosa in the north to Sentosa’s beaches in the south through a multi-sensory experience, replacing the existing pedestrian thoroughfare.

Inspired by Sentosa’s natural wonders such as the island’s lush tropical landscape, Sentosa Sensoryscape will feature a series of novel, picture-worthy vessel-like structures, measuring some 25 metres wide and 13 metres tall. Each of these will be framed by unique architectural features, and is set to pique and amplify one of the five senses through various elements such as polyphonic water features, mist, as well as fragrant flowers and plant species with unique scents.

The redeveloped precinct will incorporate Universal Design principles to ensure easy access for all guests, as well as feature break-out spaces and expanded vistas through new photo and look-out points overlooking the beaches. All of these features are designed to enhance the overall experience of guests strolling through the island in the day or night.

While works are ongoing for Sentosa Sensoryscape, guests will be able to continue accessing and enjoying Sentosa’s diverse array of leisure experiences. The island’s various themed attractions, golden beaches, accommodation options, dining outlets, and nature trails, among other offerings, will continue to remain open.

About Sentosa

Sentosa is Asia’s leading leisure destination and Singapore’s premier island resort getaway, located within 15 minutes from the central business and shopping districts. The island resort is managed by Sentosa Development Corporation, which works with various stakeholders to oversee property investments, attractions development, operation of the various leisure offerings and management of the residential precinct on the island. The Corporation also owns Mount Faber Leisure Group which runs Singapore’s only cable car service.

The 500-hectare island resort is home to an exciting array of themed attractions, award-winning spa retreats, lush rainforests, golden sandy beaches, resort accommodations, world-renowned golf courses, a deep-water yachting marina and luxurious residences – making Sentosa a vibrant island resort for business and leisure. Making Sentosa its home, too, is Singapore’s first integrated resort, Resorts World Sentosa, which operates South East Asia’s first Universal Studios theme park.

Situated on the eastern end of Sentosa Island is Sentosa Cove, an exclusive oceanfront and residential enclave bustling with some 2,000 homes, romantic quayside restaurants, retail and specialty shops.

The Island is also proud to be home to Sentosa Golf Club and its two acclaimed golf courses, The Serapong and The Tanjong. Sentosa Golf Club hosts the SMBC Singapore Open and the HSBC Women’s Champions, featuring some of the world’s best golf professionals.

Welcoming a growing number of local and international guests every year, Sentosa is an integral part of Singapore’s goal to be a global destination to work, live and play.
