Driving tips on Sentosa

Driving in Sentosa is not so different from the mainland; motorists should still follow these usual driving tips:
  • Drive based on the signposted speed limit
  • Before changing lanes, signal early and check your blind spot
  • Do not tailgate
  • Give way to traffic on your right

ROUNDABOUTS

One unique thing about traffic in Sentosa is that there are no traffic lights—instead there are many roundabouts!

There are 2 major roundabouts on the island:

Roundabout 1: Sentosa Gateway, Artillery Avenue
Roundabout 2: Artillery Avenue South. Allanbrooke Road

For cars, here are some tips on how to navigate these roundabouts:

Slow down when approaching a roundabout and give way to traffic on your right.
  • The general rule is that:
  • Traffic from Lane A as in the illustration goes to ‘A’.
  • Traffic from Lane B goes to ‘B’.

If, however, you find your correct lane overcrowded, you may use another lane to reach your destination: Provided that —
(a)          you give clear signals showing your intention in good time;
(b)          you obey the right-hand rule;
(c)           you do not inconvenience other drivers;
(d)          you use your mirror intelligently to see that you do not obstruct the path of vehicles behind you.
