Where To Go for a Staycation with Kids

Sentosa's Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa, Singapore has often been lauded as THE most family-friendly resort on the island. They have kid-themed hotel rooms, a plethora of kiddie activities, the most exciting kid's pool complete with sprinklers, slides and more. Plus, it is the island's only resort hotel that sits right ON the beach with balconies. 

They have 454 rooms and suites (catering to a  variety of budgets) and close to hills, sea, pools and gardens (so you are guaranteed a good view). Plus, six restaurants and bars featuring a variety of cuisines — so no one will go hungry.

ROOMS

There are 454 rooms, from the Superior Hill View room that is still a comfy 333sqm with a private balcony and a bathtub, to the Family Garden Rooms that have their very own patio. A slight splurge can land you a room with expansive terraces, gorgeous sea views and more. The suite life at the Shangri-La comes at a minimum of 684sqm, separate bedroom and sitting rooms, kitchenettes and more. Balconies, sea views and indoor or outdoor hot whirlpool baths. Plus, the plushest accessories and amenities. 

 

THINGS TO DO 

When it comes to facilities, you are spoilt for choice at this fabulous resort. 

The Pool at Rasa Sentosa is a highlight. There are two swimming pools (the main pool and a separate, heigh-appropriate kids pool) plus, hot whirlpool baths and water slides. 

The 24-hour gym with state-of-the-art, plus it has large windows all around so you can work out while enjoying the view

Since it is Sentosa's only beachfront resort, there are a variety of beach activities guests can enjoy, such as sandcastle building, swimming, beach ball, water sports and more.

Another huge draw is Nestopia. An outdoor, ticketed play space on Siloso beach that is fun, thrilling, challenging and promises hours of fun to kids of varied ages (ages 2 onwards). It has 17 play sections with challenging obstacle courses made up of three giant nests situated 7.5 meters off the ground with amazing views of the South China Sea. STAYCATION WITH KIDS

  • The water activities for kids are exciting, amazing and promise several hours of fun. From three animal-themed water slides at the children's pool to splashing fun time under the water bucket and the splash pad.
  • If you are planning the staycation with toddlers, the Cool Zone is the hotel's kid's play area that is divided according to age-appropriate activities. There is an indoor play space with a giant indoor slide, plus storybooks, art activities, toys and kids movies. 
  • The proximity and access to Siloso beach is a massive draw. Sandcastles, swimming and even water sports such as kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and pedalboards, are on offer. 
  • Nestopia. Enough said. 

 

GROWN-UP HIGHLIGHTS

  • The water sports and beach fun can be had by all ages. If you are staycation as a group of adults, spend your time sunbathing, swimming or in sea sport activities.

WHAT TO EAT AT RASA SENTOSA

There are four restaurants and two bars on the property, all ready to cater to a variety of appetites and tastes. Highlights among these include:

Silver Shell Cafe is where they serve breakfast and is also their all-day-dining cafe. This all-day dining outlet features a dedicated and scaled-to-height children's buffet section, with a wide array of main dishes, salads, sandwiches, fruits, as well as desserts. They also serve baby food and are incredibly friendly to kids of all ages. 

Trapizza is the fun beachside spot for top-notch wood-fired pizza, pasta and delicious beach cocktails. 

Apart from these, the staff at Rasa Sentosa are happy to organise an afternoon tea set in your room or a Champagne lunch set for two on a private balcony.
